About Tropiflora

A family-owned nursery operating since 1976 specializing in collector-grade Air Plants (Tillandsias) and Bromeliads.

We are CLOSING this location October 31, 2026

Located at 3530 Tallevast Rd, Sarasota, FL 34243, Tropiflora operates as a wholesale nursery serving Sarasota in Florida. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

The staff was exuberantly friendly and I hope to come back before closing in October. Pretty magical place, I’m excited to watch my new babies grow. πŸ’š Also kudos to the gal that runs the social media aspect for them, she and the team were able to relay very helpful information and seemed to enjoy being helpful every time I had questions over the years. I am wishing for hopeful opportunities for the Tropiflora company and the staff and everyone involved. 🌿

They still have a lot of hurricane damage and don't allow customers in most of the air plant growing greenhouses because they are make shift. A large bromeliad, non air plant (tillandsia) type, greenhouse is open. But they have more air plants than most stores set out on display and will get whatever you want, if you know what you are looking for specifically. Prices were good compared to getting them from retail resellers in the Midwest where we are from. Not being able to go thorough the greenhouses was disappointing but understandable. The master grower, Veronica, was very helpful and her knowledge sharing pushed my rating to 5 stars. Once they get the other greenhouses open it'd be 6 stars, if that were possible.

Definitely will return to this paradise! This nursery is huge, specializing in tillandsia ι“ε…°ε±žζ€η‰©. I learned about it from a small air plant sellerΒ - Airplantation (actually it's the seller's home, not far from here) in 2023 - yes, all my purchase from Airplantation are doing well. This nursery suffered from the hurricane and are still recovering from its effects. The office is at the end of the road - everyone should go there to check in first. The young lady in the office said that this was a hobby her stepfather had started around 50 years ago. There is a long snake skin pinned on the wall, near the ceiling, that he brought back from Peru. I told her about snake banquets each autumn in Hong Kong, which I miss very much. They also sell beautiful driftwoods. Oh, the dusty road is unavoidable.

The air plant experts! Tropiflora was incredibly helpful in helping me build an air plant arrangement to celebrate my wedding anniversary. I’m really bad at this stuff but Robin guided me through the process and patiently translated my rough ideas into an arrangement that will live on for years to come. Thank you so much!

Excellent family owned nursery. We are planning to redo some outdoor pots that receive a lot of sun and wanted to buy from a local nursery so we dropped in here for a look. They have an amazing array of plants and steered is in the direction for the ones that would do well in the area we need. We're still in the planning stages but will absolutely return to buy from them.
